A Mission Valley Bank staff member was named a “2019 Trusted Advisor” by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal when she was recognized with the Business Banker Client Services Award this month, officials said Friday.

Rachel Carrillo Vasquez, a credit administrative assistant at Mission Valley Bank’s Centre Pointe branch in Santa Clarita, was selected for the award after being nominated by Mission Valley Bankcorp & Bank President, CEO and Director Tamara Gurney.

“I was pleasantly surprised just to be nominated,” Carrillo Vasquez said, noting that the staff members typically considered for the award are bankers, regional managers and vice presidents. “I’m honored that they acknowledged my hard work.”

With over 25 years of experience in the financial industry, Carrillo Vasquez has been a member of the Mission Valley Bank team for seven years. 

She is the “point person” and client liaison for her branch’s commercial loan portfolio totaling over $60 million, and has personally secured $7 million in loans and significant referrals, according to a statement by Gurney published in the SFV Business Journal.

“What I like to show people is that they’re not just another number. I try to provide exceptional service,” Carrillo Vasquez said. “Behind every Trusted Advisor is a good team, and here at Centre Pointe, I have an amazing team that I work with, so I give them credit as well.” 

Every year, SFV Business Journal officials recognize one “Trusted Advisor” from about 25 nominees in a variety of categories, including accountants, attorneys, bankers, insurance professionals and wealth managers.

Carrillo Vasquez was honored at an awards ceremony held Aug. 8, marking the ninth consecutive year that a Mission Valley Bank staff member has won in the banker category.
