Santa Clarita Valley Chamber Of Commerce Announces New Small Business Chair

The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce announced Brian Schlick, co-owner of Schlick Art & Photography, as chair for the Small Business Council, officials said Monday.

The council is set to bring together small business members to discuss issues and policies, as well as support specific small business initiatives within the chamber, according to officials.

“We are pleased to have Brian Schlick serve as chair of the Small Business Council to help develop our efforts to address the needs of small businesses,” said Nancy Starczyk, chair of the SCV Chamber board. “Brian has shown his dedication to this community, not just through business, but his volunteer efforts.”

The Small Business Council is set to focus on three main objectives: advising the SCV Chamber on small business-related issues and programming and networking opportunities; supporting the Chamber’s “Retail Walks” with elected officials; and helping promote the nationwide “Small Business Saturday” program, which highlights small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

“I am honored to serve as the founding chair of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber’s Small Business Council,” said Schlick. “As a small business owner, I know first-hand the types of resources a small business needs to be successful and the important role small businesses play in our local economy.”

The Small Business Council also promotes increased membership and participation in the SCV Chamber, according to officials.

“Brian is a great addition to our council leadership team because of his successful track record in the Santa Clarita Valley,” said Ivan Volschenk, managing partner of Evolve Business Strategies, which manages the SCV Chamber. “He’s a successful, small business co-owner and understands the needs of small businesses.”

The SCV Chamber recognizes that small businesses are at the core of the chamber’s membership and are the “backbone” of the economy, officials said.

The chamber offers a variety of educational and networking programming to help small businesses thrive, and the new Small Business Council helps support and expand those offerings.
