Giving Tuesday Offers More Opportunities To Be ‘Saugus Strong’

Giving Tuesday, the annual day of generosity set for Tuesday, Dec. 3, presents an opportunity for Santa Clarita community members to give back and remember what it means to be “Saugus Strong.”

Giving Tuesday was originally organized in 2012, inviting people worldwide to donate to nonprofits and various charity organizations across the globe.

The day hits particularly close to home in Santa Clarita, as many residents have looked for ways to give back to the community in the wake of the Saugus High shooting.

One organization that jumped immediately into gear after the incident was the Santa Clarita Coalition, which continues to accept donations to support the victims and survivors of the shooting.

The Santa Clarita Coalition is conducting this fundraising in coordination with the Santa Clarita Disaster Coalition.

Other nonprofits that call Santa Clarita home include the Michael Hoefflin Foundation and The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley, among countless others.

AmazonSmile allows Amazon shoppers to designate a charitable organization of their choice, and then 0.5 percent of the cost of any Amazon purchase they make goes to that organization.

Since its inception in 2012, Giving Tuesday has raised more than $1 billion in the United States alone, according to officials.
