14 Freeway To Face Twelfth Round Of Lane Closures From Santa Clarita To Palmdale

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is set to close portions of the 14 Freeway for a pavement rehabilitation project to improve the condition of the lanes and create a smoother ride for motorists.

Closures are scheduled nightly on Monday, April 8 through Saturday, April 13 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

“These closures may start and end later, and all closures are weather-permitting and subject to change,” reads a statement from Caltrans officials.

The project requires closing two lanes of the freeway to facilitate a safe work zone to protect workers and motorists, according to officials.

The project includes replacing concrete slabs, grinding, and striping both directions of the 14 Freeway between the Santa Clara River and Technology Drive.

Myers and Sons Construction is the contractor on the $6.6 million pavement rehabilitation project that is estimated to be complete this spring, according to Caltrans officials.

Caltrans advises that motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and avoid the area.

Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
