“30 Things For 30 Years” Contest Announced For Santa Clarita’s 30th Anniversary Celebration

The “30 Things For 30 Years” contest organizers are inviting Santa Clarita elementary students to make tributes celebrating the 30-year-anniversary of the city, with the winners receiving a party for their entire school next month.

On Dec. 15, the city of Santa Clarita will officially turn 30 years old. In honor of this milestone, the City is hosting the “30 Things for 30 Years” contest and is asking local elementary students to join in and celebrate creatively by coming up with a tribute to the city’s 30th anniversary.

All schools who participate will have the chance to win a party on the city’s actual anniversary, Dec. 15.

Students are encouraged to use their imagination to come up with a wide variety of ways to celebrate.

  • Organizers have provided some ways to participate:
  • Collect 30 bags of nonperishable food items to donate
  • Have your class write 30 poems
  • Have the entire school do 30 jumping jacks
  • Stand in the shape of a 30 on the playground
  • Plant 30 plants in your school garden
  • Research 30 historical facts about the City
  • Take 30 pictures of 30 oak tree; walk for 30 minutes
  • Draw 30 pictures of City locations
  • Collect 30 items that represent Santa Clarita
  • Choose 30 items to put in a time capsule

Participants can enter as individuals, a group of friends, a class or club or the entire school.

Entry must be submitted from an elementary school student, teacher or school within Santa Clarita city limits. Participants may enter online or by mail. For more information, click here.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m.

A compilation of the entries will be presented to the City Council at the council meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 28 and a winner will be announced.
