Boys And Girls Club Of Santa Clarita Valley Hosts ‘Super’ 48th Annual Benefit Auction

While the final numbers are still being calculated, Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley officials believe they are “at least in the ballpark” of hitting their goal of $300,000 raised from Saturday night’s annual benefit auction, according to officials.

The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley’s 48th Annual Benefit Auction was held Saturday night at the Hyatt Regency Valencia with the theme of “Super Heroes! Defending the Future For Our Children.

“The organization has been around for 51 years, and for much of that time, the auction has been one of the premier events to show support for our community,” said CEO Matthew Nelson. “This event really highlights why Santa Clarita is such a great place.”

The event was sold out, with approximately 350 tickets sold, according to officials.

Doors opened at 5 p.m. and the event began with two hours of opportunity for bidding on any of the 175 silent auction items, each valued at $100 or more.

“Starting around 7:45 until we ended a little after 9:30, we had a live auction with an auctioneer, which brought a great energy,” Nelson said. “There were a couple of bidding wars. You just never know what’s going to get people excited.”

The live auction portion of the evening featured 35 additional items.

One of the “hottest” items, according to Nelson, was a guitar signed by the members of Guns N’ Roses.

“We had amazing donations from local businesses, small and large,” Nelson said.

The annual event accounts for one-third of the program’s operating budget, so those still wishing to contribute or donate are encouraged to keep an eye out for other events throughout the year or donate, via their website, here.

“It’s really inspiring to see the way the community supports us, and good to know people really care about the kids and the next generation,” Nelson said. “The night had a really fun theme of superheroes, but the staff of the club are superheros every day, and so are the people that support our clubs.”
