Candlelight Vigil On March 13 For Those In Santa Clarita Who Lost Their Lives To Fentanyl

A candlelight vigil will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023 remembering loved ones lost to Fentanyl. The event takes place at 7 p.m. at Real Life Church, Valencia.

“We lost over 30 Santa Clarita youth to Fentanyl over the past year,” said the Founder of Action Drug Rehab, Cary Quashen. “It’s time to let their deaths become a symbol to prevent future casualties.”

Four Santa Clarita Families who recently lost a kid from a Fentanyl overdose will share their tragic stories.

Real Life Church is one of many Santa Clarita churches to assist in bringing awareness of the Fentanyl crisis to their congregation.

Real Life Church lead Pastor Rusty George shared, “I see this as a night for our community to heal. Fentanyl overdose is a critical issue for Santa Clarita, and we want to be a church that actively participates in helping those suffering from addiction while walking with those affected by the death of a loved one.”

Fentanyl is laced on many other drugs and pills. It’s deadly. If a pill is bought off the internet or sold through a dealer, odds are it contains Fentanyl. Any pill or drug that doesn’t come from a pharmacy has the potential to kill.

Congressman Mike Garcia, who will need to be in Washington DC that night, recorded a special video for the vigil. “I have met with many of you. I’ve seen the heartbreak firsthand and I can’t imagine the pain and suffering you are going through as a result of the loss of your loved ones.”

DEA Special Agent in Charge, Bill Bodner, Los Angeles Field Division will be one of the featured speakers, “Public awareness is one of the most vital things we can do at this time. We can make an immediate impact right now by educating our youth and community about the dangers of fentanyl. Far too many Americans, especially children, don’t understand the deadly consequences.”

Real Life Church is located at 23841 Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia, at the intersection of McBean Parkway. The public is invited to the Vigil, free of charge.

  1. How about a vigil in front of the White House because of the Liberals “Open Border & Sanctuary City “ policies!

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
