Chamber Of Commerce To Host Congresswoman Katie Hill For Current Affairs Forum

The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that they are set to host Congressmember Katie Hill as part of their Current Affairs Forum series scheduled for later this month, officials said.

As part of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber’s Current Affairs Forum series, Hill is set to meet with local businesses and talk about important issues facing the business community on Tuesday July 30, according to officials.

“The SCV Chamber is the largest business membership organization in the Santa Clarita Valley and our core mission focuses on being the voice of business,” said Nancy Starczyk, chair of the board for the SCV Chamber.  “Our Current Affairs Forums are part of the benefits of being a member of the SCV Chamber. Part of the Chamber membership benefits are to create direct access for our members to engage with our elected officials.”

Hill serves in several leadership positions, as well as on important committees in Congress including the House Armed Services, Oversight and the Science, Space and Technology Committees, according to officials.

Hill was also elected by her colleagues to be the Freshman Co-Representative to Leadership in the 116th Congress and was the first Member-elect to present the Democratic Weekly Address, according to officials.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our local businesses to have a conversation with our Congresswoman,” said Ivan Volschenk, managing partner of Evolve Business Strategies which manages the SCV Chamber. “What happens at the Federal level has direct, real world impacts on our local businesses.”

The Chamber’s Current Affairs Forum with Hill is set to be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 3 to 4 p.m.

The location is being finalized and will be announced shortly.

The event is only for members of the Chamber, according to officials.

For Chamber members who would like to register for the event can do so by sending an email here.

Registration is required, and space is limited. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
