City Encourages Residents To Apply For Position As Commissioner

The City of Santa Clarita is encouraging residents who qualify to apply for a position as a commissioner.

The open Parks, Recreation and Community Services commissioner position posted by the city is for a term lasting until December 31, 2022, with the application deadline scheduled to be at 5 p.m. on July 15.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and live mainly in Santa Clarita during their term. They also must be available in the evenings and must submit three letters of recommendation, according to City officials.

The application and letters of recommendation should be submitted to the city clerk’s office by the deadline.

The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission advises the Santa Clarita City Council on matters related to city park facilities, recreational offerings, and community classes and programs.

Issues addressed by the commission include maintenance and expansion of parks, development of trails and open space for public use and provision of programs to educate and encourage Santa Clarita youth to make positive choices.
