College of the Canyons and Valencia High School hosted the Sports Medicine Professions Fair Saturday morning.
From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, the College of the Canyons Sports Medicine Program and Valencia High School Medical Science Academy held the event at COC’s Valencia campus.
The event began with a presentation from several panelists working in sports medicine. An orthopedic surgeon, emergency care doctor, physical therapist, athletic trainer, chiropractor and EMT provided information about their fields.
They discussed potential paths into the field, costs of schooling and average salary.
A set of booths were also available so attendees could ask for additional information about various different pathways into sports medicine.
The Valencia High School Medical Science Academy gives students a pathway to pursue medicine.
Through the program, students are able to compete in national competitions.
