After a two-year hiatus, the College of the Canyons Foundation announced the return of the Silver Spur Celebration and honor Bruce Fortine for his service later this month.
The 2022 Silver Spur Event is scheduled for Saturday, May 14 at Santa Clarita Studios in Valencia.
The evening is set to recognize the accomplishments of Fortine, also known as “Mr. COC.”
Known for sharing his passion about the college, and connecting the college to people and partnerships in almost every segment of the community, Fortine’s involvement with COC stretches from its earliest days to its latest ground-breaking accomplishments.
“After two years of postponement, it is with great joy and renewed enthusiasm that we look forward to celebrating Bruce for his legacy and lasting contributions to College of the Canyons,” said Chancellor Dr. Dianne Van Hook. “He has been a part of College of the Canyons since the very beginning. His character, commitment to the college, care for students and connections to the community have been instrumental in shaping the development of our college. The Santa Clarita Community College District is deeply indebted to his tireless support, which spans more than 50 years.”
The Silver Spur Celebration is set to take place Saturday, May 14, 2022 on the backlot of Santa Clarita Studios in Valencia with cocktail hour starting at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7.
