Dogs Involved In RV Pursuit Available For Adoption

A pair of dogs, who were seen in an RV that law enforcement chased from Santa Clarita to the San Fernando Valley, are now available for adoption, according to officials.

Near the end of May, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station initiated a pursuit of a reportedly stolen RV. Over the course of the chase two dogs, named Onyx and Starlet, were seen in the RV, according to officials on scene.

At one point, witnesses described seeing Starlet jump out of the moving RV, which had sustained significant damage over the course of the pursuit, according to officials.

The pursuit came to an end on Tampa Boulevard and Wells Drive in Tarzana after the driver struck an occupied vehicle. The suspected driver, 52-year-old Julie Rainbird, was arrested as a result.

Onyx and Starlet were initially taken in by county officials, where they were held for several weeks before the non-profit dog rescue organization Foxy and the Hounds took them in on Thursday.

“Starlet and Onyx are doing amazing,” said Terri Fox, founder and president of Foxy and the Hounds. “They are most definitely gentle giants and so happy to be together again and out of the shelter.”

The two dogs were kept together during their first night with a foster owner set up through Foxy and the Hounds, and they could not have been happier, according to Fox.

“They slept cuddled up with the foster in her bed last night,” Fox said. “Absolutely nothing beats the first night sleep out of the shelter.”

Onyx and Starlet are now available for adoption as a pair.

“Foxy and the Hounds never separates bonded pairs, so Starlet and Onyx are available for adoption together only,” Fox said. “We work very hard to place our rescues in the perfect forever homes.”

Anyone interested in adopting Starlet and Onyx can email foxyandthehounds@gmail.com for an application.
