Every 15 Minutes Program Comes To Vasquez High School In Acton

As a component of the Every 15 Minutes program, the California Highway Patrol and Vasquez High School will be holding a simulated drunk driving traffic accident.

The accident is scheduled for March 28 at around 10 a.m. on Red Rover Mine Road, north of Escondido Canyon Road.

The actual crash will only last around an hour, but the road will be stopped for several hours to set up and break down the scene. Throughout the simulated crash, there will be an abundance of emergency vehicles present.

Residents of the area have been notified of this and know there is no real emergency.

The two-day event Every 15 Minutes shows high school students how drinking and driving affects their loved ones and the world at large.

An impaired adolescent driver, victims and deaths will be the stars of a first-day traffic accident simulation at the high school. Like in a real accident, the event features emergency services such as fire, ambulance, coroner and tow truck businesses.

An assembly for students will be held on Friday, March 29, to kick off the program.

This event is organized by the California Highway Patrol and is supported by various community organizations and individuals.

It is also supported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, American Medical Response (AMR), the Los Angeles County Coroner, the Michael D. Antonovich Antelope Valley Courthouse and Antelope Valley Medical Center.

While Vasquez High School is preparing for its Every 15 Minutes event, the William S. Hart Union School District will not because it is not expected to host this event during the 2023-2024 school year.
