The Junior Chamber International Santa Clarita (JCI) is expected to host the First Annual Virtual WiSH Run to benefit students in the William S. Hart School District.
JCI is a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs, and the Santa Clarita Valley chapter works to strengthen leadership skills through community impact projects like the well-known SCV 40 Under Forty event and Santa’s Helpers project.
The WiSh Education Foundation funds programs and initiatives for the 23,000 students of the William S. Hart Union High School District and aims to raise funds with the introduction of the virtual run.
“We wanted to get people out, active, moving and promote mental and physical wellness. Especially after the Saugus tragedy, WiSH has really focused on promoting wellness and providing these resources,” said Sharlene Duzick, president of the WiSH Foundation.
Starting Jan. 1 through Jan. 9, participants are welcome to complete a 5k or 10k path of their choosing. Interested individuals can register here.
According to WiSH participants can expect to receive a long-sleeve tech tee and goodie bag surprises. A $100 gift card can also be won by posting a picture or video taken before completing the first 5k or 10k and tagging it with the hashtag #WiSHRUN. Posts will then be submitted for the raffle.
All proceeds from the virtual run will go to support the WiSH Education Foundation and the students of Hart District High Schools.
“We have been trying to find ways to continue fundraising throughout the year. With COVID-19, it has been challenging to host events and this is an opportunity to do fundraising and promote health and wellness,” said Duzick. The event is really about kicking off 2021 in a positive manner and with a focus on the wellbeing and achievement of students in Hart District.”
Those interested in donating or becoming a sponsor of the event, can visit the WiSH website here.
