After a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Santa Clarita Fourth of July Parade is coming back to the streets of Old Town Newhall, with Senator Scott Wilk, Suzette Valladares and Olympian Brittany Cervantes riding aboard the KHTS fire truck.
Announced by Terrell and Sharon on 98.1 FM and AM 1220, the 2022 Fourth of July parade will feature various floats, horses, music, the local elected representatives, military representations, classic cars and the KHTS antique Fire Truck carrying Senator Wilk, Assemblywoman Valladares and Olympic softball star Cervantes, driven by Santa Clarita Grocery founder Bradley Grose is set to greet Santa Clarita residents.
“Our community is more than ready for a return to normalcy, and this could be one of the biggest parades we’ve seen in years,” said Leon Worden, who has chaired the parade since 1996. “We’ve all been through a lot the last two years, and it’s fitting that we honor the people who were there for us – be it an ambulance driver or a teacher who had to adapt to Zoom classes or the person who went to work at the local grocery store day after day without knowing what would come next.”
Besides the two years during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and a two-year period from 1942-1944 due to World War II, the Santa Clarita Parade has always brought patriotic celebrations to residents of Santa Clarita since 1932.
Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, the parade is set to take itself along Main Street, turning left on Lyons Avenue before finishing at Orchard Village Road and Dalbey Drive, according to officials.
