Garcia Donates To Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry In Newhall

Congressman Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, helped lead a food drive at the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry in Newhall Saturday.

Garcia and fellow volunteers lead a monthly “Saturday of Service” food drive at the SCV Food Pantry Saturday where 1,000 pounds of food was donated.

“I’m blown away by our volunteers every time; these people are doing the right things for the right reasons,” said Garcia in an interview Saturday. “It’s not about politics, it’s about something we can all agree on to make a meaningful impact.”

Garcia’s relationship with the SCV Food Pantry can be traced back to last October, where he donated a portion of his monthly salary to the local charity, in a previous KHTS story here

Garcia’s presence at SCV Food Pantry Saturday comes from a program called “Saturday of Service,” where Garcia and his team of roughly 400 volunteers do something different each month to give back to the community, officials said.

Last month they organized a trash pickup, this month they donated to the SCV Food Pantry, and next month they are expected to host a blood drive, according to Garcia.

“Our charity organizations are starting to get back online and it’s good to see, especially in Santa Clarita,” Garcia said. “That’s one of the hallmarks of Santa Clarita, is our charity and the amount of giving the local community does.”

The SCV Food Pantry is a non-profit that works to alleviate hunger in the SCV by providing food to those in need of assistance, including seniors, veterans, and working families.

  1. Are any packets of vegetable/fruit seeds, free seminars/classes/pamphlets of learning and using English also Given for a long term sustainable Future?! Does SCV have multiple “community gardens”?! Are the children being taught in free taxpayer schools helping/teaching their parents, if they’ve chosen not to learn English, and if the children and schools emphasize teaching/sharing English while eating, etc. to make it fun and fruitful?!

  2. Does KHTS publish every Press Release from Representative Garcia? There’s a positive article every day.

A reminder that Garcia sides with the stop the steal insurgents (and is considered a traitor sympathizer by many Americans). He has yet to publicly condemn the siege of the US capitol. Until he does it’s just weird having him “represent” me.

    • Yes, Congressman Garcia has come out strongly against the illegal actions against the Capital on January 6th. It’s easy to find his statements regarding these actions if you look for them.
Thank you, Congressman Garcia for providing the opportunity today to care for our neighbors in need!
