Garcia Gives Portion Of Congressional Salary To Circle Of Hope

Congressman Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, donated a part of his Congressional salary Monday to Circle of Hope, a non-profit organization that provides financial, educational and emotional assistance to people battling cancer in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Garcia presented a check to the organization on Monday morning following a tour of of the Circle of Hope facility with Vice Chairwoman Nola Aronson and Executive Director Laura Kirchoff.

“Cancer did not stop when COVID hit,” Kirchhoff said in a statement Monday. “We’ve seen an increase in the need for financial assistance from many who would normally be able to afford their treatment, and we’ve also had many people reach out for additional emotional support because of the increased stress of COVID-19.

The contribution comes less than two weeks after Garcia’s donation to the SCV Food Pantry, an organization that works to alleviate hunger in Santa Clarita by providing food to local seniors and working families.

“While the pandemic has affected all of us, those in our community who are fighting cancer are facing unique hardships,” Garcia said in a statement “In addition to the challenges the rest of us are dealing with, these folks have to worry about not just staying healthy and recovering, but being able to afford life-saving treatments. Circle of Hope is an incredible organization that works to fill the gaps, and I am proud to support their mission, especially during these tough times.”

Since taking office in May, Garcia has contributed to a number of organizations within the 25th Congressional District, including the Simi Valley Police Foundation and the Antelope Valley Veterans Community Action Coalition

Garcia said that he plans to continue to fulfill his commitment of donating the equivalent of 10 percent of his monthly salary to local charitable organizations as the district continues to contend with the coronavirus pandemic.

“The donations we are receiving now will help us continue to provide assistance to those fighting cancer in our community, and we are very appreciative of the Congressman’s support,” Kirchhoff said.

  1. This suck-ass millionaire is trying anything these days to get elected and now this! LOL! Not to help anyone, but simply to get attention! He is already a millionaire who doesn’t need his meager salary here! He’s nothing but another Trump clone who has voted with Orange Hitler 95% of the time! He’s FAILED to pay his own business taxes, but then supports the plan to RAISE taxes for homeowners here in our community by thousands while giving corporations and the wealthy like himself a windfall! He’s a crook! Just like Chump! He takes tens of thousands of dollars from special interest groups and then votes with THEM and his party instead of his own constituents and families who are struggling to pay their bills! Remember—this is the clown who said we need to fend for ourselves! Elect idiots like this, and that’s exactly what you’re gonna be doing! If you care about SCV and YOURSELVES, DONT vote for Mike Garcia!
Vote for CHRISTY SMITH on November 3rd! It’s really the only choice!

  2. Relax AM at least they’re opening up ink parlors so you can get more Gavin/Garcetti tattoos.Maybe you’d like Garcia more if he handed out free jars of pickles and pepperoncinis at his victory speech.

  3. Does look like he’s buying the election… Throw that he’s pro-life on top of it and you have every church and their flock rooting for this guy. Can I just make it clear, if you’re a man, it’s not your choice.

    • True, and some of the “men” around here are questionable, to say the least! Phony Baloney millionaire trying to help his friends while he throws the rest of us under the bus! Just like his mentor, Orange Hitler! Only concerned about themselves, and anyone who doesn’t see that needs a check-up-from-the-neck-up!
