GoFundMe Set Up After Woman Falls Onto Pickaxe Suffering Multiple Injuries

A GoFundMe has been set up for a Santa Clarita resident Stephanie Waddell who suffered multiple facial injuries Wednesday after falling on a pickaxe.

On Wednesday, Waddell was helping a friend move a few items and tripped over a workbench landing on a pickaxe, said Lisa McLaughlin, a friend and coworker of Waddell.

“She was helping a friend who is going through a divorce move a few things, when she tripped causing her to fall on the pickaxe which impaled her right below her left eye and it came out through the roof of her mouth,” McLaughlin said.

As a result of the fall, Waddell had several teeth knocked out and suffered multiple skull fractures.

“She will be needing many surgeries and implants to fix this trauma,” McLaughlin said.

The GoFundMe was created to help support Waddell and her family in this difficult time, McLaughlin said.

Waddell is described as a kind person by her friends and is always doing what she can to help others.

“Stephanie is a kind-hearted person who is always helping others despite her own battles with Lupus which has left her with limited hand use,” McLaughlin said.

Waddell remains in the hospital and has multiple surgeries ahead of her, according to McLaughlin.

“She is one of the sweetest people I know and a wonderful hard worker. Any donations will be greatly appreciated,” McLaughlin said.

  1. Innocently falls on a pick ax?? Very interesting!

  2. I call moo moo poo!

    • Susan, are you implying this did not really happen or that it was intentional? Who in her right mind would do this intentionally for money. I am sure if this is legit, you can verify it. Freak accidents do happen.
I know we become jaded with all of the dishonesty we encounter in our world. However, I can’t imagine Ms. Waddell doing this intentionally. Are you thinking her friend did it to Stephanie? I am confused by your response.

  3. Homeowner’s insurance should cover this.

  4. Amazes me how heartless people can be, but if something tragic happens to them it’s a different story. Praying God puts passion back in all of our hearts.

  5. These are my personal friends and I know her very well. She would never do this for money. Geeez people did you think they wouldn’t read this?

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
