GoFundMe Set Up For Family Of 16-Year-Old Santa Clarita Girl Hit By Car

The family of a 16-year-old Santa Clarita girl hit by a car last week has set up a fundraiser to help cover her medical costs.

The GoFundMe page was set up by Harley Anne Laub’s family Sunday, days after she was struck by a car in Santa Clarita, causing traumatic injuries.

“Harley Anne Laub is an adventurous, bright, sweet and a thoughtful high school student from Santa Clarita, CA,” reads the GoFundMe. “She is a strong-willed young lady who loves watersports, camping, biking, and her family & friends.”

At around 8 p.m. Wednesday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision on Sierra Highway and Dockweiler Drive in Newhall, according to officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Laub had been struck by a vehicle as she was riding a scooter, officials said.

A deputy from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station applied a tourniquet at the scene, helping stabilize Laub before she was sent to the hospital.

“Harley suffered a major injury in her right lower leg including two breaks and a severed artery,” said John Estrada, a member of Laub’s extended family. “Doctors are trying to save the limb with multiple surgeries, which will include bone and skin grafts among other procedures.”

According to Estrada, the Golden Valley High School student and JV soccer player also has one break and two fractures in her pelvis, two collapsed lungs and multiple fractures in her ribs and has undergone about 12 hours of surgery so far.

“As expected, the family is taking it day by day,” Estrada said. “They are so grateful for the first responders and all of the medical professionals at Henry Mayo Hospital & Children’s Hospital L.A. They would also like to thank their extended family and friends for all the love and support they have given.”

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.

As of Monday, the GoFundMe has raised over $8,000 of its $10,000 goal. To donate, click here.

Ed. Note: Laub’s age has been corrected to 16.

  1. Hopefully the car that hit her stopped & has insurance

  2. Thank you for your comments. As of now I (mother) have not received the police report which will contain all the information about the accident. I have left numerous messages for the detective for any information with out any response.

  3. You are making illogical conclusions.

  4. I can’t help to noticed that the go fund me page has pictures of this girl wake boarding, she’s even posing on a dirt bike with gear on, and a soccer player too… all EXPENSIVE activities & hobbies and yet the family is asking for the public for financial help. If you can afford to do those trips & fancy lifestyle, I… think… the family can pay for the expenses yourselves.

    • Your a classless jackass…

    • And it would have cost you exactly zero dollars to keep your heartless, judgmental comment to yourself.

May Harley make a full recovery.

    • How about you keep your comments to yourself .These activities that she participated in is none of your business. As she is in a hospital bed recovering and will still need more surgeries that’s all you can think about is oh the financial aspect of this whole situation. You sir or ma’am are ignorant

  5. Why not hold your unsubstantiated opinions to yourself and let LASO do their jobs?

  6. Some of these comments are so cruel. This was an accident in the dark and unfortunate on both sides. We have prayed each day for Harley (whom we just found out her name) to recover. This was not a hit and run, and the police were present when this unfortunate accident happened. Our family is not “scum,” and my young child was in the car when this happened and is devasted to have witnessed this. She sees Harley’s frightened face every night, so please stop this speculative madness. We continue to pray for Harley, and I hope you, too, will find kindness and empathy and send positive messages as her road to healing will be difficult. This is not political; it is life.

  7. Our prayers are with Harley and your family. We have tried to find out information, and thankfully a friend shared this article. Please know that we have been trying to find out how she is doing. My 11-year-old daughter was there and has been so worried about Harley. We want to honor your privacy, but please know that we genuinely want to know that she will be alright.
