Honda announced that it recalled over 500k vehicles due to the driver and front passenger seat belt not latching correctly.
Honda has recalled: Accord and Accord Hybrid 2018-2019, CR-V 2017 – 2020, Insight and Odyssey 2018 – 2020 models nationwide due to an unsafe seat belt issue in a crash, according to Honda.
The issue also affects Acura 2019 and 2020 models, according to Honda officials.
“The seat belt buckle channel for the driver and front passenger seat belts were manufactured out of specification, causing interference between the buckle channel and the release button,” reads the recall announcement.
The increased friction can possibly create a latching problem which can leave drivers and passengers more vulnerable to injury, added Honda.
Honda owners are set to be sent a notice alerting them of the recall where they can be directed to an authorized Honda dealer where they are set to replace the driver and front passenger seat belt buckle with no charge to customers.
