The South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) has once again extended a residential no burn day alert Thursday, for all those living in the South Coast Air Basin, which includes Santa Clarita.
South Coast AQMD reminds residents in these areas that burning wood in their fireplaces or any indoor or outdoor wood-burning device is prohibited through Friday during the
mandatory wood-burning ban, according to officials.
The no burn rule prohibits burning wood as well as manufactured fire logs, such as those made from wax or paper, according to officials.
“Do your part to help keep our air clean by not burning wood during the mandatory wood burning ban,” officials said.
No burn day alerts are mandatory in order to protect public health when levels of fine particulate air pollution in the region are forecast to be high, and smoke from wood burning can cause health problems, according to officials.
Particles in wood smoke — also known as fine particulate matter or PM2.5 — can get deep into the lungs and cause respiratory problems including asthma attacks, increases in emergency room visits and hospitalizations, according to officials.
Residents can help reduce the harmful health effects of wood smoke by signing up to receive email alerts to learn when a mandatory no burn day alert is issued.

I love when they “try” and tell us what to do in our own privately owned residences. Only in California!
NOT only in California.
Just more Liberal Hysterical Global Warming/Climate Change panic!! Wonder what the salaries are for the CEOs of CARB, etc.?!
Actually, if you had read it, it is about particulate air pollution. You just blither the same non-sense repeatedly. No one appreciates your “message”.
Burn bans aren’t new. Nothing to complain about, just cooperate. You don’t own the sky around your house.
I had a nice fire in my fireplace last night. It was lovely. Sheep comply.
Terrible Twos late in life.
The link to the sign up for alerts doesn’t work. Where can I sign up for the no burning wood alerts?

You can Google AQMD no burn day, and the first result should be the site above (Air Quality Management District – South Coast check before you burn). They have an app that shows the current air quality index in your area, and shows when there is an alert, or you can sign up for email alerts on their website.
