Inmates in Castaic received their high school diploma from Five Keys Charter High School this week.
On Thursday, Five Keys Charter High School and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Education Based Incarceration (EBI) Unit held a commencement ceremony at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic.
More than 10 inmates earned their high school diplomas on Thursday.
“This program is one of the many that are offered to inmates to allow them to improve their lives,” said officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
While inmates are incarcerated, the units focus on having them achieve an education to better themselves once they are released.
The graduation ceremony marks the first held by Five Keys since the pandemic began in 2020.
“Thank you to all the teachers and staff who help make this goal successful,” said officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.“Congratulations to all who earned their diplomas.”
