JCI Santa Clarita To Host Supply Drive To Help School Children

On Tuesday, Santa Clarita’s Junior Chamber International (JCI) announced that it is slated to host its first ever school supplies drive for underprivileged school children in the community.

A supply drive known as “Pack to School,” designed to raise money for underprivileged children’s school supplies, was announced by JCI Santa Clarita on Tuesday.

“We are just two weeks away before our State and City reopen!” Santa Clarita’s JCI chapter president Daniela Echaiz said. “We are so excited to be transitioning to more in-person events starting this month. We look forward to seeing you all in person soon!”

Pack to School was revealed around the same time that JCI Santa Clarita’s transition to more frequent in-person events was announced.

JCI “aims to provide backpacks, notebooks, pencils and other supplies necessary for underprivileged children in the Santa Clarita Valley to be successful in school each Fall,” according to program officials.

The supply drive program reportedly features several different sponsorship levels for those wishing to help out, with the lowest level slated to cost $50 and the highest to cost $3,000.

“The first weekend in August, elementary and junior high school students from Newhall, Sulphur Springs, Saugus Union and William S. Hart school districts can pick up their supplies at Westfield Valencia Town Center,” JCI Santa Clarita’s program site states.

The supply drive was reportedly modeled after JCI Santa Clarita’s annual Santa’s Helpers Event, which started in 1999 with the goal of giving presents on Christmas Eve to underprivileged children in the Santa Clarita Valley.

JCI Santa Clarita is known as the premier membership-based nonprofit organization of young and active citizens between the ages of 18-40, according to officials.

The “Jaycees,” the nickname given to JCI Santa Clarita members, dedicate themselves to positive changes in their communities, according to officials.
