Maria’s Italian Deli In Newhall Closes Permanently… Again

Maria’s Italian Deli in Newhall closed permanently for the second time in nearly 50 years on Sunday, after going through several different owners.

Maria’s Deli permanently closed its doors for good Sunday after being open for over 47 years, according to Bruno Colombo, the son of Maria, an original co-owner.

The store originally closed in 2020, but was re-opened in May of 2021 under new ownership, according to officials.

Colombo is not looking to have the restaurant re-open under the name of Maria’s Italian Deli despite the most recent owners have opened a restaurant at the Cube.

They might be using some of the recipes, but are not going to be operating under Maria’s name, according to Colombo.
As of Monday, it is unknown what will move into the location.

  1. What a shame, now it probably will become just another Mexican or Thai restaurant!

    • Maria’s was so good. It w was the owners son that was the problem..

      • Mr Genius Jack
How do you make a disparaging comment with no evidence.. The closure of the business is in no way a reflection upon the original owners.. They sold the business that was stable, successful and growing .. The business generated 3 times the sales income when the Son purchased the Business in 2001 and worked there 30 years ..Where are your facts to support your erroneous comment.. Do have have facts ? Or Did you attend Snowflake , cancel cultural troll school.? Madone !!. 🙄

    • Sad but true

  2. So excited to get over to their new location! The newest owners who
revived this great restaurant, really did a fantastic job bringing back
the old magic that was missing for a couple of years!

    Can’t wait!

  3. Whatta you mean Im funny? Im like a clown? I amuse you? I make you laugh? What the f*** is so funny about me?!!

  4. Now go home and get your shinebox!

  5. You can take the hammer and the money or you can walk out of here.

  6. The last owners ruined Marias. They didnt know how to run it properly and the food was lousy. Good riddance.

  7. The owners son? He’d make your shoes look like f***** mirrors! And he made a lot of money..

  8. C’mon Al, lets go to the beach.

  9. I’m gonna go get the paper, get the paper.

  10. Allright….EXCHANGE!!!!!!!!!!

  11. I personally found Jack Urmum’s comment to be Disparaging and Incendiary.

  12. My dad worked with Ben and it has been a family favorite since they opened their first location! Great people and great food! My all-time favorite was their vegetarian sandwich- so wonderfully packed with artichoke hearts, mushrooms, etc!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
