Memorial Service Held For Michelle Dorsey

A memorial service for Santa Clarita murder victim Michelle Dorsey was held on Saturday at Real Life Church.

The memorial service to honor Dorsey, who was murdered by her estranged husband in April, took place in person and via livestream on the KHTS Facebook page at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 12 at Real Life Church in Valencia.

Michelle Dorsey moved to Castaic when she was four years old with a love for the outdoors. She was a pitcher in softball as a child, and eventually went on to play softball at Valencia High School.

Her college career began at U.C. Santa Barbara, then CalState Northridge where she earned a degree in accounting. She worked as an accountant with Allied Tools for 14 years, but her true passion was being the mother of her three boys, Carson,13, Logan, 11 and Cameron, 9.

“Michelle never wanted the spotlight,” said Danielle “Bubba” Downs Quemuel, Michelle’s lifelong childhood friend, and the first friend she made in Santa Clarita. “She deserves nothing but the best and nothing but to be honored. She was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, and one of the best friends we’ve ever asked for.”

“You can’t choose your family, but I would choose Michelle 100% of the time,” said Michelle’s brother Daniel, aka DJ. “Michelle showed me how to be strong, selfless, giving, wise, and determined and helped me the man today that I know she’d be proud of.”

DJ shared a particular memory of his sister in which Michelle insisted on DJ saving money on a florist for his wedding by allowing her to make a beautiful flower arrangement for him instead.

“Michelle was my best friend,” said Jessica Jordan, Michelle’s sister who has recently taken custody of her three sons. “We could talk openly at any time, knowing our most secret conversations would be kept safe. We could always find solitude and peace when we were together.”

Jessica and Michelle often talked about becoming camp counselors together once their children had grown up. Jessica shared a special moment before her sister’s passing in which they went on a walk together at the beach and shared goals for their children and their future hopes and dreams.

Michelle had a passion for the outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, or adventuring. She also had a love for animals, even digging a pond in her backyard for pet fish or raising chickens with her sons. She was known to have a contagious laugh that would light up the room wherever she was.

“Michelle has left mighty shoes to fill,” said her uncle, Chris.

The memorial service ended with a photo montage, with one of the background songs being “You’ll Be In My Heart” from Disney’s Tarzan soundtrack. Michelle loved singing Disney songs and would often take her children to Disneyland.

“This isn’t a goodbye, but a ‘see you later.’ Today we celebrate you and the amazing person you were,” said Jordan.

Michelle is survived by her grandmother, mother, sister and brother, brother in law and three sons.
