Newhall Crossings Brings Entertainment To Old Town Newhall

Visitors to Old Town Newhall are soon going to be able to explore art, culture, and entertainment at Newhall Crossings,  some even from the comfort of their own balconies.

Measuring five stories tall, several of the main buildings on the Newhall Crossings project site are set to have commercial spaces on the first floor, with the remaining floors being devoted to 47 housing apartments that feature exclusive birds-eye views of Newhall.

The retail area is approximately 20,000 square feet and consists of both restaurant and retail spaces. There is a central public plaza that will be adjacent to Newhall Crossings, public parking, and a new Laemmle Art House movie theater.

Matthew Paul,  leasing manager for Newhall Crossings, described the community as “a modern luxury residence” at the heart of Old Town Newhall.“Once you come home, you don’t have to get back in your car to explore the restaurants of Santa Clarita,” said Paul. “It has bars, shopping, nightlife, a comfortable home community, that’s what most of our tenants have been very excited about.”

Newhall Crossings is located at the intersection of Lyons Avenue, Main Street, and Railroad Avenue in Newhall, a stone’s throw from the Newhall Metrolink Station and a few minutes from the 5 and 14 Freeways.

Incoming restaurants and cafes include XRO Fresh Churro Bar, Rustic Burger House, Pop’s Creamery, The Loaf and Maginn’s Irish Pub.

Other vendors include a C’est L’Amour Nails, dance studio Glasshouse: L.A. and fitness center Grit + Gratitude Studios.

The Laemmle Newhall Theatre, a family-owned arthouse chain, includes seven screens with approximately 500 total seats for moviegoers.

“Things have been going really well, we’re about 80 percent leased on the resident side, and the final touches should be complete in next month or so,” said Paul.“I think we have a good group of people in there.”

In addition to the local shops and eateries, Newhall Crossings is set to host movie nights on Fridays, projecting the film onto the side of the adjacent parking garage in the center plaza.

After over half a decade of planning and acquiring land, and with major construction done, several vendors are now in the process of remodeling spaces and moving in, according to Paul.

Paul shared that property representatives hope to have a grand opening event sometime in the near future, but that concerns related to COVID-19 and gathering limitations come first.

“We’re just happy to be in this community and everything about the street is what we wanted,” said Paul. “Once we open it will be a great place to live.”

  1. When was this article written? In today’s world, jamming a lot of people in confined spaces does not meet health department directives. Being next to a transportation hub was once considered a selling point. Now, people are not using public transportation due to the likelihood of getting the virus. The Metrolink parking lots are empty, even though some trains are still running. The buses have very few passengers.

It will be years before we get back to normal.
