Officials confirmed Wednesday that there would be no increase to the local sales tax rates in Santa Clarita this year.
While residents of many cities and several counties across California were recently informed of an upcoming increase to their local sales and use tax rates, Santa Clarita will not be among them.
“The tax rate in Santa Clarita will not change,” said Casey Wells, spokesperson for the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. “The tax rate will remain 9.5 percent.”
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration sent out a special notice to business owners across California informing them of the scheduled increases to the local sales tax rates across various cities in California.
Increases range from as low as 0.5 percent to as high as 1.25 percent across the 51 cities that are affected.
The changes are scheduled to go into effect on April 1, 2019.
