Pro-Law Enforcement Rally Draws Dozens In Valencia

Dozens of residents came out for a pro-law enforcement rally outside of the Westfield Valencia Town Center in Valencia Friday afternoon.

On Friday, dozens of residents with signs and American flags stood near the Westfield Valencia Town Center at the corner of McBean Parkway and Valencia Boulevard.

“What we’re here for is to show our support for the police department,” said one of the rally’s organizers, who only gave his first name of Ed. “Law enforcement is not optional.”

The rally is the fourth such gathering in Santa Clarita over the past two months aimed at showing support for law enforcement, the largest of which attracted hundreds of residents near the beginning of July.

“A lot of folks who have been coming to the rallies have known other folks that did not know that we were going to have rallies, and they keep asking us, ‘Hey, when are you going to have the next rally? We’ve got friends who want to attend but didn’t know about the last one,’” Ed explained. “So we’re going to keep continuing as folks ask.”

Several former law enforcement officers attended the rally, including a retired member of the Los Angeles Police Department’s SWAT Team named Art.

“We need to motivate people to come out and stand up for their first amendment rights,” he said. “We’ll be back. We’ll be doing this for some time until the narrative of ‘defund the police’ goes away.”

It also comes in the same week that the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors passed a motion directing county officials to draft documents needed to place an amendment to the county’s charter that would  “set a baseline minimum threshold of at least 10%, phased in by 2024, of our locally generated unrestricted revenues in the general fund (“Net County Cost”) to be allocated on an annual basis” to direct community investment” and “alternatives to incarceration.”

Currently, roughly 42 percent of the $8.8 billion the county’s Net County Costs are allocated for “law enforcement and legal system uses.”

“To address racial injustice, over-reliance on law enforcement interventions, limited economic opportunity, health disparities, and housing instability, it’s time to structurally shift our budget priorities and reimagine Los Angeles County,” the motion reads.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva has vocally opposed the motion since it was added to the board’s agenda at the “last minute” late last Friday. He took to social media Wednesday, decrying the proposed amendment as “a bad idea on steroids.”

“It’s a dystopian future that awaits us, where law enforcement doesn’t exist or rarely exist, and leaves everyone to fend for themselves,” Villanueva said.

The full motion can be read here.

  1. Where were these guy back in June when I was supporting Cops with my I love Cops and Mexicans love Cops signs during the Black LIES Matter Protests?
I was the ONLY person going toe to toe with them and the Liberal Fish Wrap “The Signal” or News Crew Covered it.
Random people on Facebook had to post it and supported me. #Backthebadge!

  2. I would have been there if i would have know…Where do you go to find out when these are happening??

  3. ??? So much love for the brave men and women in Law Enforcement. We support you!!!

FUND the POLICE!!!! Protection and safety is essential.

  4. Better advertising and promotion would definitely produce a greater turnout. Congrats on doing this!

  5. Awwwwwww I wish I had seen this earlier I was only a few blocks away ?. I’m too far away now
Thank you SVC sheriffs department! ????

  6. Thank you all!! Please make it known prior to the next one so we can participate.

  7. Yes, fund the Police! Absolutely! Especially fund the reform process!

They need the proper resources for proper change.

Thank you to all the brave and wonderful members of The Santa Clarita Sheriff Department

  8. A lot of non mask wearing residents when I passed. It would be nice to stop the spread and cover up so I don’t loose everything due to their unwillingness to accept that this virus spreads real easy . It simple as when your around others where a covering.

  9. Yes, WEAR A MASK!

  10. Glad to see our local citizens are supporting law enforcement. I am so sick of the left wing – mainstream media – Democrat propaganda machine fanning the flames of racism everyday on their networks. In my neighborhood everyone has a diverse ethnic background. We all get along above average, we look out for one another, and our children can play safely together. This is because the City of Santa Clarita is mostly Republican. Look at every Democrat city. All of them have the same problems with high crime which includes: pro-pot dispensary, strip clubs, anti-religion (other than Islam), pro-anarchy, pro-santuary city for illegal immigrants, and pro-abortion. People who are sick of crime in the central and east side of the San Fernando Valley move out here if they can to escape the problems of LA City. Yet many still vote Democrat, which means they haven’t figured out the history of their previous city’s problems yet. The left is all about cancel culture and dividing us apart. Here is proof of their one of their failures. Lastly, based on what history has shown us over the last 30 years “everything the Left touches turns to s$%t. Everthing!” Just look at Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, LA, Seattle, Portland, etc.

    • Rufus: What an excellent factual/truthful summary!! It’s hard to believe the Liberals/Anarchist are really trying to ruin/bring down the USA and the brainwashed sheep just go along with it!! God bless the LE & USA!!

  11. The Democrats are in heaven with the coronavirus, amd defunding law enforcementacross the U.S. It is political to them, and it is helping Joe Biden’s campaign. Here is proof of that.

  12. It is a shame some children in America are being taught by there parents to hate the police. In Portland, Oregon some Democrats thought that is how they should raise there kids. Here is proof of that. Of course you will never see this clip on any of the mainstream media sites, despite the fact this clip is gaining momentum. It is part cancel culture that some bad parents, and universities are indoctrinating into our children.

  13. Rufus,
There are extremes in all groups. Some people have outrageous viewpoints and that has always been true. Deciding that Democrats all agree on everything is probably what is troubling you. That’s impossible.

  14. People should be very wary when politicians use the terms “reimagine” along with law enforcement.
Not only has this term been used here, but by politicians in Minneapolis, where the city council has voted to disband the police. Santa Clarita has been rated as one of the safest cities in America for MANY years. Why does the city wish to turn Santa Clarita into a city which is more like … Portland ? This city is growing, and along with it, it will have more challenges with various forms of crime/gangs. People will be/ are leaving cities like Los Angeles for safer cities like Santa Clarita. I urge the city council to stand strong on this, and do not cave to the mob, which get all of the media attention.

  15. Keep the police funded –

On July 21, 2020, the Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 (Supervisor Kathryn Barger voting “No”) to approve a proposed Charter Amendment. If approved by the voters, it will defund public safety to the tune of hundreds of million dollars. On Tuesday, July 28, the Supervisors are expected to introduce ballot language for the Defund Public Safety Initiative. If approved by the Supervisors, the initiative will be placed on the ballot for voter consideration in November.

The motion directs County Counsel to do the following:

Draft an ordinance, to call a special election to be held on November 3, 2020, for the purpose of voting on an amendment to the Charter of the County of Los Angeles to set a baseline minimum threshold of at least 10%, phased in by 2024, of our locally generated unrestricted revenues in the general fund (“Net County Cost”) to be allocated on an annual basis for the following primary purposes: Direct Community Investment; Alternatives to Incarceration.

Ensure that the ordinance containing the proposed charter amendment is clear that the use of any of these earmarked funds for carceral systems and any law enforcement agencies, including the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, L.A. County District Attorney’s Office, L.A. County Superior Courts, or L.A. County Probation Department, including redistribution of funds through these agencies, is strictly forbidden.

Keep an eye on the ballot for this we need to make sure it does not pass. Thank goodness for our Supervisor for being the only one to stand up and vote no.

  16. You don’t know the political affiliation of each protestor!

  17. Watch the Larry Elder movie”Uncle Tom”everything you need to know about the left is all in there.
