‘Reno 911!’ Reboot Filming In Santa Clarita

A “Reno 911!” reboot is filming in Santa Clarita, as the show took over the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station parking lot on Monday.

The comedy series has been greenlit for a new seventh season by the streaming service Quibi, according to Comedy Central.

Quibi is a mobile-first, media streaming service, the first entertainment platform built for easy, on-the-go mobile viewing set to launch in April, according to the company.

A critically acclaimed hit series that ran for six seasons on Comedy Central, “Reno 911!” let viewers ride shotgun with the courageous men and women of the Reno Sheriff’s Department as they lay down the law and put their lives on the line, according to a release.

A portion of the new “Reno 911!” is being filmed in Santa Clarita, including the use of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“‘Reno 911!’ holds a special place in our hearts, and it will be a delight to get the original cast back together for ‘re-boot goofin.’ Hopefully Nick Swardson can still roller skate,” said Thomas Lennon, writer and star. “Quibi’s short format seems custom-made for our show.”

Quibi, run by Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman, is set to launch in April and has greenlit more than 50 scripted and unscripted shows, which are expected to release in “chapters” of eight to 10 minutes each, according to the press release.

The seventh season of “Reno 911!” was announced to be in production Dec. 6, and is set to release on the upcoming streaming service, which launches in April.
