San Diego Firefighter Cory Iverson died on Dec. 14 while fighting the Thomas Fire in Ventura County — now called the seccond biggest fire in California history.

“The Cory Iverson Celebration of Life,” the memorial service planned for the firefighter who died battling who died fighting the Thomas Fire, is set to take place on Saturday, Dec. 23 at 10:00 a.m.
Many fundraising events have also been planned to benefit the family of the fallen firefighters for funeral costs and general living expenses, according to officials.

“Please join me in keeping our fallen firefighter and his loved ones in your prayers and all the responders on the front lines in your thoughts as they continue to work under extremely challenging conditions,” Cal Fire Director Ken Pimlott wrote in a message to the department.
An account has been set up through the CAL Fire San Diego County Firefighters Benevolent Fund, a non-profit tax deductible fund, which can be accessed through PayPal or through the mailing address on the website.
Donors will either receive an email or a letter in the mail, containing a tax deductible receipt, depending on how the payment was received, said officials.
Firefighters across San Diego County will be hosting a Firefighter Boot Drive on Friday, December 22 from 6:45-9:00 a.m. throughout various locations in San Diego. The proceeds will go towards the Iverson family through the CAL Fire San Diego County Firefighters Benevolent Fund.
Lastly, a GoFundMe account has been set up by friends and family of Iverson.
The memorial service will take place at 10 am. In Rock Church, located at 2277 Rosecrans St, San Diego, CA 92106.
“This loss leaves a tremendous void to his wife, who is expecting their second child, his two year old daughter, family members and all of his firefighter brothers and sisters,” said news release from Patrick D. Walker, CAL Fire Deputy District Vice President. “Please join us in celebrating the life of this amazing young man who was taken from us much too soon.”
