Santa Clarita Author Receives 2020 Independent Press Award

A Santa Clarita author, Stacy Dietz, has been recognized by the Independent Press Award for her newest book, officials said Wednesday.

The book titled “Come Fill This Place” was named as a distinguished favorite in the category of Religion Nonfiction, according to Dietz publishing company.

The competition is judged by experts from different aspects of the book industry, including publishers, writers, editors, book cover designers and professional copywriters.

“We are thrilled to announce the winners and distinguished favorites in our annual 2020 Independent Press Award. It is clear that independents are prospering in every corner of the earth.  We are so proud to be highlighting key titles representing global independent publishing,” said awards sponsor Gabrielle Olczak.

Selected award winners and distinguished favorites are based on overall excellence, according to officials.

In “Come Fill This Place: A Journey in Prayer,” Dietz shares parts of her story and how it impacted her journey to find intimacy with God.

Prayer is revelatory, inspirational and spiritual and there are things we all can do that will help us feel closer to God, Dietz said.

In the book, readers can find out what Dietz has learned about God and what He would like to do through the prayer life we develop with Him, according to officials.

The author shares how God became her inspiration for life.

In 2020, the Independent Press Award had entries worldwide.  Participating authors and publishers had submitted entries from countries such as Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, India, Ireland, Portugal, Sweden and others.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
