Several Santa Clarita businesses have boarded their windows in preparation for a large Black Lives Matter protest in Valencia reportedly planned for Thursday.
On Monday, officials with the City of Santa Clarita issued a statement expressing that they are “aware of the planned protest on Thursday, June 4, at noon near the intersection of Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway.”
“All protesters who wish to assemble peacefully and share their feelings and concerns can assemble in the City of Santa Clarita,” the statement reads. “Those looters and rioters who are looking to cause damage and steal property will be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
Businesses across Santa Clarita boarded-up doors and windows over the last several days, with banks, liquor stores, and hardware stores boarding-up in the case that potential looting does arise.
Preparation for the protest began after an anonymous social media post circulated throughout several Santa Clarita groups Monday. The post claimed that a protest with “800+” attendees had been “permitted by the city,” and that protestors would be “bussed in” from other parts of Southern California.
However, Santa Clarita Mayor Cameron Smyth disputed some of this information.
“There is no permit that has been issued by the city,” he said. “We have no confirmation of the numbers of participants, nor do we have any firm indication that people are set to be bussed in.”

Officials with the Westfield Valencia Town Center decided to push back their reopening date out of “concern for the welfare” of employees and customers due to potential looting which has become associated with similar protests throughout the nation.
On Tuesday, officials with the Westfield Valencia Town Center sent an email to employees announcing that they would be delaying the reopening of the mall, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday.
“Along with the reopening date being pushed, we have decided to halt all curbside offering, effective immediately, out of an abundance of caution,” the email reads.

This needs to be stopped in its tracks before it begins.
We have seen what has happened in other cities in the past week. I’ve heard they are bussing people in from out of the area these busses need to be turned around. Enough is enough this rioting by terrorist needs to stop. Law enforcement needs to step it up and do their job. Allowing Roads to be blocked and looting is dereliction of duty.
You heard wrong or you’re lying. Even the city said bussing isn’t happening. Get a life.
Oh and the city knows everything right! All hotels are fully booked tomorrow, and it’s likely there will be chaos tomorrow. I just hope LEA has brought in enough reinforcements! The peaceful protests that have been going on are locals, what’s going to happen tomorrow is not going to be the same. I hope I’m wrong but based on the pattern I think trouble is coming and what they don’t know is our LEA don’t mess around! Anyone causing problems will be met with force!

The name of this story should be called, “Democrats are coming to Valencia. City is on edge in case of looting and destruction caused by BLM across the country.”
If BLM really cared about making progress why were over 50 black men shot by one another on New Year’s Eve 2019, and another 10 shot over Memorial Day weekend alone, in the crime ridden city of Chicago.

I see the racism and privilege has not changed in SCV since growing up there in the 80s… BLM is about the fact that blacks and meet with violence by laws enforcement way more way way way more than whites. It has nothing to do with black on black crime …you are comparing apples and oranges. Law enforcement is held at a higher standard and supposed to protect people not some people and kill unarmed people because of the color of their skin. BLM is about how blacks are treated by law enforcement. It’s Black Lives Matter …Because cops tend to forget that when they pull over or confront young black men and think its no big deal to shoot them or choke them.

The protest is against police who misuses their badge. The protest is to stop the police brutality and killing of black and brown men.
I agree with Chanel. Nothing is given for free. When our police officers leave home everyday, they don’t know if they are going to come back to their families. It is tough out there. Many times it is not easy to make a decision and it is difficult to assess a situation, and they don’t make much money considering what they risk for us. According to some statistics from the FBI for 2016, most murders are committed by black people by far. Police officers get scare too. At the end of the day, they are people and sometimes they make mistakes, they are not fair, etc. Black people should talk about why they get involved in these crimes. One of the reasons is because the fathers leave and mothers have to work and raise the kids on their own. So while the mother is at work, the kids get in trouble like getting involved with gangs. Another problem to add is the large number of women who get pregnant at a very young age, with no economic resources. The black community should talk about this and educate their people on this instead to be blaming for their problems to the rest of people. Also, they should look for more job opportunities, get an education instead to be living from the government. No, looting (stealing) and destroying is not right and is not acceptable. Taking what is not yours and does not belong to you is not acceptable. If you want something, work hard to get it.

Unfortunately, they refuse to look inside and rather lash out at everyone else and point blame wherever they see fit and put up the race card at the drop of the hat to cover up the real issues they have! It’s easier for them to try to DEMAND better treatment than it is to take responsibility themselves and EARN it, which they continue to resist doing! That doesn’t sit well with everyone else who actually have to change their ways themselves to get ahead and make positive things happen. Hopefully, someday they’ll learn that screaming, yelling, and violence isn’t the way to get ahead! The great majority of the protesters have been peaceful. Many looters and violent rioters weren’t even with BLM.Those facts have been established. Look beyond what you are seeing on main stream media that feeds on sensationalism. Interesting fact that many cops had turned off their body cams during these events. Nothing to hide there ! Lives do matter, property is replaceable, lost lives are not !

Can you imagining opening a white college? What revolt that would cause ? Statistics show more white people were shot by police even though they have proportionately fewer encounters with police. I would ask please for you to check archives as to the problems Valencia High had as it first opened? Hispanic students against the African American students, as I can recall. I ask you to please look into archives, it was a different unrest.
I agree with Santa Clarita resident. Black people have their own commercials where all the actors are black, their own black tv shows, etc. Do you see shows on tv where all the actors are white? no, they are people of various races. White and other races are more inclusive of the black people than the black people are. Black people have been always very racist against white people. And yes, Santa Clarita resident is right about the statistics. More white people have been killed at the hands of our officers. We have plenty of open space (parks) and sidewalks here in Santa Clarita for them to have a peaceful protest. Once they start breaking the law by blocking the streets and impeding traffic they become un-peaceful in my view.

“It has come to our attention that there is a rumor circulating of a planned protest in support of the Black Lives Matter movement on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 12pm at the corner of Valencia Blvd. and McBean Pkwy. As local leaders of progressive organizations, we are not aware of or in contact with any organizers of either local or out of town groups planning such an event.
Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend to our members and supporters that they not attend or participate in any action in the City of Santa Clarita on Thursday, June 4th.”
It’s not just antifa that was here. You know who else was here? All the members of that big huge caravan that Fox news was talking about a few years ago. They finally arrived. Just in time. They were here protesting and joined the movement. Every boogeyman you ever worried about. They have all joined the cause and they are coming to loot your stores and houses. OMG people. It was a peaceful protest. And last weekend you know what? It was another peaceful protest. People are actually capable of peacefully expressing themselves for a cause without looting.
