Two local stuntman were added to the Western Walk of Stars with a bronze star on Main Street in front of Reyes Winery on Friday.
“The Walk of Western Stars celebrates the lives and careers of the men and women who greatly contributed to the growth of western entertainment and whose work helped the city of Santa Clarita become one of the most filmed locations in the world,” said Mayor Jason Gibbs.
Gibbs went on and introduced the two stuntmen Billy Burton and Walter Scott who are the 99th and 100th inductees on the Western Walk of Stars.
Burton is a longtime Castaic resident, a stuntman and a second-unit director with a career that started in the mid-1960s and has made over 100 movies and television shows, with 30 of them in the Western genre.
Burton began his career in movies such as “The Shakiest Gun in the West,” “The Great Train Robbery” and “Little Big Man” with Dustin Hoffman.
“It’s a great honor to be received by the Walk of Stars,” said Burton.
Scott, a Canyon Country resident, has been in the movie business since the mid-1960 and has more than 200 credits as a stuntman, actor and second unit director, 54 of which are for Westerns.
One of Scott’s first jobs, when he started in the film industry, was as Clint Eastwood’s stunt double for the film “Hang ‘Em High.”
. “It’s an honor to be here. I’m proud to be honored and I’m feeling lucky, my whole life I’ve been lucky and it’s been great to see all these people here, friends and stuntmen,” said Scott.
Representatives of Assemblywomen Pilar Schiavo and Congressmen Mike Garcia were also there to help celebrate the two newest inductees on the Western Walk of Stars.
“We are honored to include these two men on the Walk of Western Stars and look forward to celebrating their influence and their genre and many others in Western film and television,” said Gibbs.
