Santa Clarita Councilwoman Laurene Weste Set To Be Honored By iLead Schools

Santa Clarita Councilwoman Laurene Weste is scheduled to be given iLEAD School’s “Vision in Education” award at this year’s annual benefit dinner, officials said Monday.

The award is intended to recognize a community leader who has contributed significantly to public education and demonstrated extraordinary vision and dedication in supporting and expanding educational opportunities, according to iLEAD officials.

In particular, Weste’s support of SCVi, iLEAD’s foundation school, proved critical to the success of the organization, according to officials.

“For decades, Laurene Weste has worked to make Santa Clarita a better place to live, and her support of SCVi has been instrumental in helping us grow,” said Kenchy Ragsdale, president of the Scarlet Foundation, which is hosting the event. “Her extraordinary career is rife with examples of how leadership and hard work can change the world around us, and makes her a natural fit for our Vision in Education award.”

The event is also scheduled to recognize additional significant contributors to the organization with other awards.

SCVi facilitators Deja Munn and June Enich are also set to be honored with the “Founder’s Vision Award,” while parent Kelly Mehr and her family are set to receive the “Founder’s Family Vision” award.

The event is scheduled to be held on March 9 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Valencia.

For more information about the event, or to buy tickets, contact Kenchy Ragsdale at (323) 253-6249 or visit the website here.
