Santa Clarita Grocery Seeking Donations For Saddleridge Fire Victims, Firefighters

Santa Clarita Grocery is seeking donations to help support firefighters and victims from the Saddleridge Fire, officials said Monday.

Santa Clarita Grocery is looking for donations for their “Code 3 Care” initiative, which provides relief for public servants, according to Bradley Grose, a volunteer with Santa Clarita Grocery.

“Code 3 Care” features a mini grocery store with donated produce and goods and 72 volunteers who are “quick on (their) feet” to respond during emergencies, Grose said.

“We are a nonprofit charity for the city of Santa Clarita, providing groceries for those in need,” Grose said. “We encourage people to pay their bills and get their groceries from us… It comes in and we move it very quickly. Our goal is to make the best possible use of the resources given.”

So far, Santa Clarita Grocery has received 60 cases of water, six cases of fresh fruit, as well as one case of granola, chewing gum, candy and hand wipes each.

Santa Clarita Grocery is a nonprofit charity providing the people of Santa Clarita with groceries. With the help of over 70 volunteers, groceries are bought, organized and distributed within a week’s span, according to Grose.

“We met with Fire command post. (The) first 48 hours is when the greatest demand is, before FEMA comes in with relief efforts,” Grose said.

The Santa Clarita nonprofit donates those goods to evacuation centers and Fire stations around the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys, according to officials.
