Santa Clarita Internet Speeds Among Slowest In Los Angeles County

A new study has reported that the average internet speed in Santa Clarita was among the 10 slowest cities in Los Angeles County, officials said.

The study, conducted by Satelliteinternet.com, an internet service research website, found that the City of Santa Clarita had the ninth slowest internet speeds among Los Angeles County cities.

The foundation of the study was built on the analysis of 37,000 internet speeds from across the county, with a minimum of at least 100 tests per city.

Santa Clarita internet speeds clocked in at 56 megabytes per second (Mbps), on the lower end of the range of speeds.

Paramount came in as the slowest in Los Angeles County at 40.7 Mbps, while Glendora topped the rankings with an average of 83.6 Mbps.

With an average of three people per household, speeds in this range should have the capability to support basic use of a single device from each member of the household, according to the study.

Those “basic use” cases include web browsing, email and other basic activities, but not scenarios such as multiple devices streaming high definition video.

The full results of the study are available here.

  1. This is BS. This is discrimination.

  2. This is BS. This is discrimination pure and simple.

  3. “Basic” Internet doesn’t usual exceed 5mps. I’m getting 230mbps+ easy. Either the majority of people are still using dial up to bring down the average or this article is riddled with holes.

  4. My internet sucks and I found out I Was being ripped of by speCyrus when they merge

  5. What a joke. You get what you pay for. You want more bandwidth, pay for it. It’s cheap. Getting 220 megs in Stevenson Ranch with Spectrum for $50. Satellite Internet.com? Doesn’t sound like an independent research firm to me…..And I’ve been in the industry for 30 years.

  6. Man, I’ve been paying for 100mbps and when ever I use the ookla Speedtest app to see my internet speed it’s always around 10-50mbps. Very rarely it will be 80mbps or higher. And very frequently my internet stops and gives up and it’s at less than 10mbps and a ping of over 100! I’m sick and tired of this! And when ever I call they always tell me everything is fine! I don’t get it!!!

  7. I have 400 mbps for $85 a month with the option going full gig for 120 but I figured I’d rather have 35 bucks a month than the extra bandwidth I would rarely use.

  8. This article is not news, but a link to a company that provides internet services (badly at that as it is a satellite company). Can’t trust this data at all

  9. I live in Castaic and I know many people have been having issues with their internet and it it’s not specific to the provider either. In my part of Castaic only DSL is available. There are only so many choices no matter how much you pay.
So how do we remedy this? How do we get the providers to realize the Santa Clarita area needs, wants and deserves better speeds?

  10. I live in LOS ANGELES AND GET less than 2mbps download and 200kbps upload!? H O W
