Santa Clarita Named 7th Safest City In California

Santa Clarita has been named the 7th safest city in California, according to public safety data.

Once again, Santa Clarita has been named near the top of the safest cities in California, based on crime data and quality of life, according to the home security site, Safety.

“The City of Santa Clarita has long been hailed as one of the safest in the nation,” said Mayor Cameron Smyth. “This recent ranking specifically called out our low property crime rate. We are able to achieve this, thanks to the diligence of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and our vigilant community who looks out for their neighbors.”

First, the study evaluated public safety factors including violent, property and hate crimes in each area to help determine the safest areas to live.

Researchers then evaluated financial and socioeconomic factors including household income, average rent and health insurance. In addition, the study evaluated each state for natural disaster safety and public health safety, according to the site.

The study noted Santa Clarita has a lower property crime rate than other California cities but has a higher rate of violent crime and mass shootings. The data includes the November Saugus High Shooting, which has impacted the results.

  1. This tells you how bad things have gotten all over the State, given that there are now reports of stabbings and shootings every week in Canyon Country and Newhall, multiple murders, robberies and other violent crimes this year and yet we are still top 10. Wow.

  2. That’s scary. Deputy ran over with a stolen car, Deputy attacked, shootings, home invasions during the day, while people are in their homes. Resulted in one woman being injured in her driveway, left to die. Theft, vandalism, burglaries, drug dealing, assaults are common. So this tells me California is going downhill, if we placed 7th. Businesses closing each week. Overpriced housing developments in the works. Schools that can’t reopen until LA County gets their liberal demands met. Better off going to Orange County.

My advice…..don’t move to SCV. It’s lumped in with LA County. So you will be screwed.

  3. SCV is still a great place to live, despite the demonic, deceitful Liberals infiltration from LA, SFV, Palmdale, Lanc., Bakersfield!! Thanks LE for the extremely hard job of keeping us safe!

  4. We have met the enemy…

    Demonic Bakersfield Liberals!

An asteroid just barely missed hitting the earth, by half the distance to theTV satellites. Safety is in the mind.

  5. Unbelievable! Each one of you has something negative to say. Let’s blame the liberals for all of our woes. Good grief, people. SCV is still a great place to live. Top ten in the state. That’s a good number. Go with that & stop being haters.

  6. Sorry to read such negativity. Not to worry we Liberals do not have hate in our hearts and if you find yourself in need, we’ll be there to offer a helping hand. Sending nothing but love as it will always conquer over hate.

  7. If people only knew of the drug pandemic that we are living here in Santa Clarita, people would stay away. City Hall and Sheriff’s Station are not upfront with the amount of people who are overdosing in this city. Fresh new homes and tax payers must be why our City leaders are so quiet about this. I guess they just prefer to sweep it under the rug hoping no one will see the rot in our community. Congratulations Santa Clarita!

  8. I love SCV, am proud to live there and to have raised my family there. Not surprised we scored as high as we did. I am thankful we have excellent LE, good schools and amazing county fire fighters. Perfect? No community is. But so much to be proud of compared to other places. We can keep it that way by being good neighbors, good parents who teach our kids personal responsibility and supportive of local businesses.

  9. SCV is still a great place to live! For year after year IT WAS in the top 3 best cities! That’s what happens with the bad Liberal infiltration! Seattle & Portland used to be beautiful, but than as usual, Liberal infestations brought it down to ruins! Can anyone imagine an administration standing by and allowing rioting, looting, burning and a city takeover for weeks on end?! Yep, Liberals!
