Santa Clarita has been ranked the seventh safest midsize city in America to live due to the City’s low crime rate, officials said Tuesday.
AdvisorSmith, a resource for business advice and original research, released a new study that put Santa Clarita as the seventh safest midsize city to live in due to low number of violent and property crimes.
In this study, AdvisorSmith used the most recently available data from the FBI, released in September 2019, which includes crimes committed during the 2018 calendar year, according to their website.
Crimes considered in this report include violent crimes such as robbery, assault, rape and murder, as well as property crimes including burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft.
“We created a proprietary crime score, which weights different types of crimes based upon the severity of the crime, with violent crimes weighted more highly,” AdvisorSmith officials said.
Nearby Thousand Oaks took the No. 6 spot in the study, just above Santa Clarita, with Murrieta the top city in California at No. 3.
Cities throughout the country were divided into categories based, on their population.
Cities with populations of less than 100,000 and greater than 10,000 were labeled as small cities, while cities with populations of 100,000 to 300,000 were considered midsize cities and any cities with populations over 300,000 were labeled as large cities.
This study included 3,107 small cities, 214 midsize cities and 62 large cities, for a total of 3,383 cities.
As of the 2018 study, Santa Clarita had approximately 216,589 residents residing within city boundaries, according to AdvisorSmith.
From the data collected, it was determined that Santa Clarita’s violent crime rate was 1.3 per 1000 residents, and property crime rate of 11.3 per 1,000 residents for a total crime score of 23.2, according to the study.
In April of 2019, Santa Clarita was ranked the ninth safest city by Safe Home from data they collected from the FBI as well.

The anarchy driven Liberals have ruined cities on the left coast from Seattle to San Diego and many of the decent taxpaying citizens are moving to other decent states, not run by Liberals. Look what the Liberals have done to Minnesota, New York, Chicago, Baltimore, etc. !!
