Sheriff’s Deputy Tom Drake has given out toys in the Santa Clarita Valley for 15 years, he gives away items brought into the community for the annual Sheriff’s Toy Drive.
The Christmas toy program for the Sheriff’s Station is an excellent way to get toys to the kid’s that are less fortunate.
Drake filled a sheriff’s full of toys to deliver to four SCV communities including Newhall and Canyon Country.
Donors wishing to give toys to children in need can go to collection bins throughout the valley, said Fanny Lapkin, community relations deputy and coordinator for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Annual Toy Drive.
The community has been very generous in the past years, according to Lapkin.
“Every year the station gives the toys to between 7 and 9 nonprofits.” Lapkin said. “This year the toy drive may also reach another two non-profits depending on how many toys received.”
