Providing the opportunity to build personalized camp schedules catering to the individual music experience of the student, the Santa Clarita Youth Orchestra (SCVYO) is offering fully online-integrated musical studies for the summer of 2020.
Preparing an innovative online learning experience catering to the individuality of Santa Clarita music students, the artistic staff of the non-profit organization have virtually met on a consistent basis to maximize the content level of the program and the diversity of classes.
In lieu of establishing an all-encompassing musical camp, students will be able to choose their own classes to enroll in without the responsibility of attending each individual class like the Santa Clarita camp’s previous format.
Through the flexibility of class schedules, parents are given the option to pay for only the classes their child is interested in, rather than paying for the overall program.
Sessions are geared towards the encompassment of an individual child’s goals to encourage the development of instrumental skills alongside other related electives like “Yoga 4 Musicians,” “Music Theory, Recording and Composition,” “Conducting Seminar,” “Music from other Cultures,” and many more.
For more information on available classes, visit the website.
In response to revealing their updated camp format from the traditional in-person camp, SCVYO has generously decided to extend the application deadline from June 15th to June 20th and is open to all new and returning members.
Providing a variety of enriching instrumental education and performance programs for students eight years and older, SCVYO has served the Santa Clarita Valley’s music community for over 35-years.
While the non-profit is proud to announce their new virtual programs, they are currently recovering from lost revenue as a result of the COVID-19 Safer-At-Home Order in which ticket and concession sales have declined through the cancellation of scheduled performances.
Awarded a generous 2-year matching grant from the Los Angeles County Arts Commission in 2019, it is crucial for SCVYO to match their donations in order to continue many of their programs to further the development of Santa Clarita musicians. SCVYO is currently accepting donations here.
