SCV Senior Center To Host Touch-A-Truck Event Offering Family-Friendly Activities, Food

The SCV Senior Center is hosting their seventh annual Touch-A-Truck event for kids and adults interested in cars in October, officials said.

The center has officially set a date for its annual Touch-A-Truck event, which gives curious kids and adults an opportunity to climb onto a fire engine, see a construction rig up-close, turn on a Sheriff’s or CHP vehicle siren or take photos with a famous film industry vehicle.

“Kids love vehicles, and now they will be able to touch their favourite thing on wheels,” said Mayor Marsha McLean, the event chair.

The organizing committee is also trying to incorporate more kid-friendly activities into the event, like face painting, bubbles, model building and arts & crafts, which are expected to be free with admission.

Food trucks are also set to be on-site, along with multiple booths offering free ice cream, according to officials.

Sponsorships slots from Santa Clarita businesses or residents are available, and come at different pricing ranges. All sponsorship opportunities are set to include complimentary placement of a name or logo on event advertising and booth space. Participants offering kid-friendly activities may also be able to receive a 10×10 booth space for free.

Additionally, students can get community service hours at the event, with morning, afternoon or full-day shifts available, as event officials are set to sign off on volunteer log sheets.

Admission to the event is $5 per person, and proceeds are set to go towards the SCV Senior Center’s Home Delivered Meals, Senior Respite Day Care, Handyworker construction and Supportive Services programs.

The event is scheduled to take place on October 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central Park.
