SCV Veterans Collaborative Announces New Schedule For Veterans Service Officers

The Santa Clarita Valley Services Collaborative (SCVSC) announced a new office schedule for Veteran Service Officers (VSO) to support the Santa Clarita Valley community.

“As the daughter and sister of veterans, I know first-hand how important it is to have access to critical resources like health care, mental health services, job training and more,” said Assemblymember Pilar Schiavo, D-Chatsworth. “For quite some time, our Santa Clarita Valley community has been without a dedicated Veteran Service Officer. On the campaign trail, I heard story after story from vets about traveling long distances for resources that should be available to them in our community. That’s why we made it a priority to station a VSO back in Santa Clarita. Now, veterans will be able to access these resources right here at home.”

The Santa Clarita Valley has been without a dedicated VSO which has created some frustration in the timely process of claims and VA benefits, according to officials.

VSOs are individuals who can process and execute veterans administration paperwork on behalf of veterans and their families.

The SCVSC is grateful to Schiavo and her Veteran Liaison, Gaby Gurrola, for their efforts in quickly resolving this situation.

SCVSC expresses their appreciation to Chris Ward, Veteran Liaison, Congressman Garcia’s office, Jim Zenner, Director – Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, L.A. County, Keith Niesan, L.A. County and Alejandro Rocha, squad leader, Veteran Peer Access Network for their assistance in this effort.

Supporting veterans and their families is SCVSC prime objective and was a team effort to get this important piece in place, added officials.

Starting April 17, a VSO will be available every Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last appointment 4 p.m.) at 26111 Bouquet Canyon Road, at the  L.A. County County Community Services office

Additional VSO services are also available in Supulveda, San Fernando and Palmdale.

  • Supulveda – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 16111 Plummer Street, Building 22, Sepulveda, 91343 – Hector Castillo, (661) 254-0070
