Soroptimist International of Valencia’s “Dream It, Be It” program is set to launch Nov. 22 at Castaic Middle School, officials said.
The program provides participants with career support and guidance designed specifically for girls in middle school.
“This is an historical event for Soroptimists,” said Lisa Kocicka, program chair. “We are beyond excited to present this workshop to the young women of Castaic Middle School.”
Through education and access to role models, the program aims to empower girls to pursue career goals and reach their full potential, according to officials.
“While we have been presenting this program for three years, this year, for the very first time, we are offering our program at the middle school/junior high school level,” Kocicka said.
During the assembly, girls are expected to learn about career opportunities, achieving goals, overcoming obstacles to success, balancing stress and putting dreams into action, officials said.
“Castaic Middle School is excited to have Soroptimist International of Valencia provide our 8th
grade female students with the Dream It, Be It workshop,” said Principal Bob Brauneisen. “We look forward to providing our students with the information and support that will empower them to become strong and successful women.”
The girls are scheduled to have the opportunity to work closely with local volunteers, who are professional and respected women in the community, working collaboratively to lead the girls through activities that are designed to help them develop skills relevant to whatever career they choose to pursue, officials said.
Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training that can assist them with economic empowerment.
