Telly’s Charburgers Moving Locations After 29 Years

Telly’s Charburgers is set to move into a new, larger location after serving in the same location for the past 29 years.

Telly’s Charburgers owner Cynthia Koutes-Hardy sent a letter out on social media to announce the changes coming for the 50’s-inspired diner.

We are preparing to relocate our business to a new center being built in Plum Canyon at the north-west corner of Plum and Skyline Ranch Road,” Koutes-Hardy said. “Just a mile or so away, our new restaurant will have more seating, a larger modern kitchen, and improved drive thru.”

Telly’s originally opened in July of 1990, and has served as a 50’s-style diner to the community from its location in Sutter Point Plaza off of Bouquet Canyon Road ever since.

“When we opened our doors, we never in our wildest dreams could have imagined how this community would open their arms to us,” Koutes-Hardy said. “Our customers have become our friends and a part of our family which makes us feel truly blessed.”

However, the landlord of the current Telly’s location opted not to renew their lease, according to Koutes-Hardy, forcing them to look for a new location. A Starbucks is expected to take the old Telly’s location by the end of the summer, according to officials.

So now, after 29 years and with a somewhat heavy heart, we will be forced to close our doors here on Bouquet Canyon the third week of March,” Koutes-Hardy said.

There will be a gap of several months between the time Telly’s moves out of its old location and into their new facilities, but in the meantime, Koutes-Hardy said that they will be working on a mobile app to provide quicker ways for customers to order and pick up their food.

“We look forward to this next chapter of the Telly’s story,” Koutes-Hardy said. “Lost in the 50’s, found in the 90’s, and recreated in 2019. We look forward to seeing everyone at our grand reopening later this year.”

  1. Happy to hear Telly’s will still be there for the community. Not happy about yet ANOTHER Starbucks – pushing sugar.

    • Agreed Ed! This valley keeps pushing out the small family owned businesses. It’s sad.

    • Another example of how awesome town caters to the big businesses and developers and could careless about the small family owned businesses that have contributed so much to this area over the years. Seriously need to re-evaluate city management. 4 Starbucks between my house and the freeway. A couple withinsite of each other…

  2. Ohhhhh just what we need..ANOTHER Starbucks?SMH!
And if they didn’t want to renew Telly’s lease after 29 yrs…well f*** them! I’m glad they are relocating and not closing.
It would’ve been great to have them move to where Fosters was on Soledad.

  3. Tell us has been a staple for our community
From past cruise nights, to the exceptional menu.
I have a hard time with yet another Starbucks. We have 2 in the Albertsons shopping center a block away…

  4. Seriously, another mom & pop restaurant/store having to move or close because of a Starbucks? Just a COUPLE blocks from Telly’s, there’s a Starbucks at the corner and ANOTHER one in the same strip mall in the Albertsons store. Not to mention the ONE on the corner of Bouquet and Newhall Ranch which is across the street from Vons which ALSO has a Starbucks inside. Really people??
I love Telly’s and I’m glad they’re not moving far.

  5. We always went there when we lived in Saugus!! Glad to hear it is still going strong!!!

  6. We will follow Telly’s where ever they go. Happily they will still be close by.
I agree the last thing we need is another Star Bucks! Telly customer since
day one of their opening. When all the fire fighters, postal service workers, sheriff’s,
truckers, and ranchers, eat at Telly’s, that tells you how good they are! Real food at
    its’ best!

  7. No, not ANOTHER Starbucks. WHY??? We have too many of them already.

  8. Wow! Another Starbucks?? How many does our community need. I hope people will join me and my family in boycotting them as a way of saying “no more” and “leave our small businesses alone.” I, personally miss the Hallmark in Granary Square and now this…..when will it stop? There really needs to be a limit in the number of Starbucks in an area!

  9. Chances are people, the Starbucks at the corner of Bouquet and Haskell will be relocating to the Telly’s site as they have a drive through and their current location does not. I agree that adding another “new” Starbucks is not needed. Personally, a drive through Pete’s Coffee would be nice in that area.

As for Telly’s, this is great news that they will be relocating vs closing down. Love everything about that place, and happy to hear they will still be around.

  10. We love Telly’s, and have been going there for 27 years! I’m so glad that Cynthia will be opening at another location. Great food and family atmosphere…sending support and hugs to our Telly’s family. ?
