Third Annual ‘Superhero 5K’ Set To Benefit The Triumph Foundation

The Santa Clarita-based Triumph Foundation is set to host their third annual Superhero 5K in an effort to raise proceeds to assist children, adults and veterans with spinal cord injuries and disorders.

“No matter what your ability is, you are a hero to us,” officials said in a statement. “This 5K will ‘pack a punch’ in fun and ease with a fast, gentle, rolling course.”

Scheduled to take place at Lake Balboa Park in Van Nuys, participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero, with the option of participating in the costume contest following the run.

In addition to snacks, other perks include a finisher’s medal and superhero cape for every runner.

“You are challenged to walk as far as you are super-humanly able, whether that’s five steps or a full 5K. Set your personal goal for the day. You can walk a portion, and/or roll a portion. We just want to see you walk across the finish line,” organizers wrote on the event page.

The event is scheduled to take place on Sept. 21 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Lake Balboa Park, located at 6300 Balboa Blvd in Van Nuys.

Registration for individuals and teams can be purchased on the event page here. For more information about the Triumph Foundation, visit their official website here.
