Triumph Foundation Gifts Santa Clarita Teen Wheelchair After Losing Leg In July Car Accident

Harley-Anne Laub, a Santa Clarita teen who tragically had her leg amputated below the knee after being hit by a car in July, was recently gifted a new wheelchair by the Triumph Foundation.

In a recent meeting, the Triumph Foundation, a local Southern California non-profit organization, gifted Harley with a more mobile wheelchair for her to use.

The wheelchair features a sleeker, lighter design, with pink accents.

“The hospital sent me home with a pretty clunky wheelchair and I thank Triumph for giving me a wheelchair so I can get around more easily. It’s not as heavy or clunky and it’s easier to move around in,” Laub stated in a video sent to KHTS.

In the video, Laub and Triumph Foundation founder Andrew Skinner show off her new skills, including a wheelchair wheelie.

“Triumph Foundation’s mission is to help children, adults, and Veterans with Spinal Cord Injury/Disorder (SCI) to triumph over their disability and to inspire them to keep moving forward with their lives by pushing themselves to get better every day,” states the Triumph Foundation website.

The Triumph Foundation provides resources, encouragement and opportunities to people living with paralysis and debilitating injuries. Providing initial support as well as support throughout recovery and the rest of their lives is the pride and joy of the Triumph Foundation.

A student at Golden Valley High School, Laub was riding her scooter in Newhall on July 28 when she was struck by a car, sustaining a number of injuries, including irreparable damage to her right leg, resulting in a necessary amputation below the knee.

Laub’s story is one of recovery and perseverance, according to family members.

“I’m so proud of Harley-Anne, just to be able to conquer some of the challenges,” said Rachael Angle, Laub’s mother. “I’m just blown away, and she is a warrior. And her dad and I are just blown away at the inspiration that she gives us.”
