Current and past honorees of the Santa Clarita Valley Man & Woman of the Year Awards gathered together on Wednesday night for an evening of celebration.
Since 1964, the Santa Clarita Man & Woman of the Year Awards have highlighted the remarkable and selfless work that volunteers accomplish in the Santa Clarita Valley, bringing together residents and organizations that make our community a better place.
Wednesday night, the SCV Man & Woman of the Year nominees gathered at the Canyon Theatre Guild in Newhall for an evening of fun, food, and conversation organized by the 2020 award recipients, Brian Koegle and Julie Sturgeon.
“Between a CPA and an attorney we had it pretty well organized,” Sturgeon quipped. “I think people had fun. We want the public to be aware of this award, we have some really wonderful people who do some great things in the community, and we want them to be aware of what’s going on here and why we have such a great city.”
With 32 nominees for the 2023 Man & Woman of the year award – 17 women and 15 men – the Wednesday night “Paparazzi Party” was held for the first time in a public venue, part of an ongoing effort to bring attention to the non-profits that the volunteers support through their tireless work.
“This year we completely revamped our websites, we have active social media accounts across all platforms and we are actively working with local media agencies so that the public knows more about the award,” Koegle said. “The event Wednesday was absolutely spectacular, and it was a lot of fun to meet and network with some of the community’s most active volunteers.”
The Man & Woman of the Year Awards Ceremony for 2023 is set to take place on Friday, May 5, at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Tickets are available to the public here.
