Waste Management Extends Biweekly Green Waste Pick-Up Schedule In Santa Clarita

Waste Management has extended its temporary modified green waste pick-up schedule through January for Santa Clarita residents.

Residential green waste pick-up, which previously occurred weekly, was temporarily modified to biweekly. This change has been extended and set to proceed until the week of Jan. 25th, when the schedule is set to return to normal, officials said.

The temporary service changes come as Waste Management’s staffing has been negatively affected due to COVID-19. Additional drivers have been hired and are currently in training to allow a smooth transition back to a normal service schedule.

Only residential green waste carts (yard waste) are affected by the schedule change and will be serviced once every two weeks on their regular service day. Trash and recycling pick-up schedules will remain unaffected. Waste Management will notify affected residents the day before service changes through the notification preference of their choice, company officials said.

Customers are currently sorted into “Week A” and “Week B” areas for green waste pick-up depending on their location. Residents are encouraged to visit Waste Management’s website to view their service area and schedule based on the location of their residence, as well as update contact information for future service notifications.

For questions regarding the temporary schedule change, Santa Clarita citizens are recommended to contact Waste Management at (661) 259-2398 or email them at environment@santa-clarita.com

  1. Please..not only has our green waste pick up been moved to a bi-weekly schedule but our recycle pick up has only occurred correctly once in the last five weeks (been picked up on Thursday rather then the normal Wednesday schedule). When I called to inquire into the recycle pick up being “delayed” one day the representative told me he had no knowledge of this happening. Obviously management either doesn’t know their drivers schedules and/or are not communicating as such to the phone reps.

Of course when I inquired into some type of credit or bill reduction for the lack of weekly pick up I was told no bill reductions were happening but they would be glad to give me some big garbage bags to put any extra green waste in.

    God Bless America….

  2. I reside in Canyon Country and during the last few months the trash pickup on our Wednesday schedule has been going as follows; pick up will occur on Wednesdays and Thursdays (just what we need with the daily recent winds). During three weekly periods only 2 of the 3 trash containers were picked up. If you can get through to a live person, they will listen, then who knows what they will do with your complaint? Waste Mgmt is very prompt in billing their customers, no problem there. Too bad they are the only trash pick up company out here, monopolies are sometimes bad. Oh, and by the way, family members who live in Valencia do not seem to have the above problems.

  3. Burrtec Waste services Castaic and does an incredible job! I think it’s time to start pushing for a change of contract away from Waste Management
