There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  •  Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

  1. Henry Mayo keeps being cited. Is that the only hospital that is being checked for Corona Virus infections? I know I have Kaiser I don’t know if they would send the people to Henry Mayo. Or is it when they are tested wherever, they are lumping then by their home town then? If it’s just Henry Mayo, then the numbers are probably higher.

    • I believe test results have to be reported to LA County Department of Health. Years ago my daughter was diagnosed with Valley Fever and the department of health called me!

  2. I have been trying to find a place to give a shout out to all of the nurses and front line people in this fight against the virus. Maybe you can do it here. They are doing such a great job under stressful conditions and still have to be concerned about their own families.
We all need to let them know they are loved and truly appreciated!!!

  3. ….not to mention the other heroes who are working with the public every day at our local food markets, talking with them, taking their money, etc. I sincerely hope they can stay healthy as we all try to get thru these terrible times together! Pray for all of them, they need it!

    • I totally agree. My mom works at a cvs pharmacy and she’s in her late 50s. I worry about her constantly. The store recently decided that it was okay for their employees to wear gloves and a mask to protect themselves, but it’s been weeks of exposure for them already. I just pray that they all come out healthy after this. Thanking everyone out there in “the line of Fire”. We appreciate all you do to keep us safe.

    • My child works in food delivery still having to do full contact deliveries. Handing people their food, taking money, sharing pens. Not credit card orders with the food being put on the porch. My child has gone to doors were people are in masks, have obvious flu/cold symptoms, tell him there sick, but say don’t worry. Excuse me? If he gets sick, not only is he sick, but I have two immunocompromised people in my home at risk of severe illness or death. I don’t even know what to do. I’m so stressed. In his restaurant, he said it’s hard to maintain social distancing while food prepping, folding delivery cartons etc. I can’t leave, because I can’t risk infecting my immunocompromised family. The ball had been dropped so big here. We had a.couple months lead time and the government did nothing. Now we are scrambling. No supplies for doctors or people having to work”on the front line” in deemed essential businesses. No beds, no ventilators, no medicines, not enough staff. California is said to be the next Italy or New York. I can’t believe this is America. One in five is being hospitalized. Where do they all go? We have no resources. I hope a few lessons are learned here. One, react a lot quicker. Two, we need our own manufacruting and resources. We are the 7th largest economy in the world in California, our nation is supposed to be a global super power. What the hell happened? And if I see another post where someone doesn’t care, doesn’t want to distance, believe this is being blown out of proportion, I’m going to scream. Grow up and quit being selfish. Those attitudes are killing people. Are you listening to the president, who is flat out ignoring all expert advice. The advice of key people that do this for a living. They will all tell you, this is way worse than first thought. Way worse. Read the newspaper once in a while. This is no joke! Sorry so long. I really needed to vent. 🙂

      • Hey leave the President out of this he has to keep us calm while the docs figure this sht out. Before we go into another great depression. Mask or bandana time for everyone people and wash or sanitize those hands after you touch anything

  4. What are the age ranges of these individuals? Did they have pre-existing health issues? Were they young? In their 30’s? 40’s? 50’s? 60’s? More information needs to be given! We understand privacy laws but how did these individuals contract it? Were they flying abroad? Details need to be provided instead of this vague BS.

  5. I’m sorry who cares? We’re over it already’

  6. What about the road side emergency services like AAA here in castaic and santa clarita we’re anonymous heroes too, we still doing our job 24 hrs saving people lifes we have family to support they waiting for us to return at home safe

  7. I rely on the comment section for the real news. Since this website that never seems to have pertinent information in most of their articles.

Therefore, why can’t we have some sort of drive thru simple testing like Washington or NY?

This is a test for a virus not the flux compacitor ?

Where is Doc when we need him?

  8. Typed my comment too fast, apologies for the typos.

  9. Is this pandemic real to you now? Or do you still think it’s a hoax like our leader kept saying until Feb. 28? We knew about the virus , beginning Jan.3. What a mess.

    • It doesn’t matter what the president does some people just want to bash the him. Another problem we have is that some nonessential people are still working. Are we all in this or just some. Secondly, why are New Yorkers leaving that state, do they want to infect the rest of the US. Close all airports in New York.

    • Hey ANNE, STOP Spreading LIES. Get your facts straight.
Trump did not say that the virus itself was a hoax. He instead said that Democrats’ criticism of his administration’s response to it was a hoax. Just another opportunity for the Left to bash the leader with misconstrued words.
ANNE, your’e another “Fake News” sheep following the Lame Main Stream Media. Do the world a favor, start thinking on your own, STOP repeating the democratic lies by being a puppet to their agenda.
You are part of the problem. Do some research!

  10. Names can remain private, but we should be informed as to where the vvictims worked. Where could we have interacted with the announced carrier?

  11. Without revealing names, obviously, can we be informed about where these 12 SCV covid 19 people have visited in the last 10 days so we know if we may have been in contact with them?
If I knew they went to Vons on Sunday, for example, I’d know whether or not I’m more at risk.

  12. I’m what’s known as a second responder, I drive a tow truck here in Santa Clarita, and it is a necessary job, because all of y’all won’t or can’t stay home. SO I HAVE TO PICK UP THE ACCIDENTS THAT OCCURE
! Some of you also know what it is like, because your job are an essential part of this community to keep it running. I have lived here for over 55 years and have never considered living anywhere else. I love This city and will do everything in my power to see its safe. God gives us free will in this world ruled by Satan. So, please use what God gives you and stay home for the good of all others. Pray we get through this. If you have to go out do it quick and get back to safety. What does Psalm 91 really say about the Coronavirus? It is a beautiful song that speaks of trust in God in the darkest of times. Because of its references to diseases and plagues, it seems to be designed for what the world is going through at the moment with the coronavirus. PSALM 91:2 I WILL SAY OF THE LORD, HE IS MY REFUGE AND MY FORTRESS, MY GOD, IN WHOM I TRUST. I love Santa Clarita and all you who dwell here. God bless
