14 Residents At Two Santa Clarita Oakmont Communities Confirmed To Have Coronavirus

Eight coronavirus cases have now been confirmed at Oakmont of Valencia, with six additional cases at Oakmont of Santa Clarita, officials said Wednesday.

In the last 24 hours, Oakmont has received confirmation that eight additional residents have a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, with a total of 14 current cases between the two communities, according to Matt Stevenson, chief operating officer of the Oakmont Management Group

“We have a designated isolation section at the Valencia community, and all residents with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis from Santa Clarita and Valencia have been transferred to this quarantine section of the community,” Stevenson said. “Thus far, all confirmed cases have been Traditions (memory care) residents.”

Two staff members at Oakmont of Valencia have also tested positive for coronavirus, according to the company.

Oakmont has taken “extraordinary steps” to prepare for the virus and its impact on the residents, team members and the community, according to Stevenson.

“At the onset of the pandemic, we formed a task force committee specifically designed to harness the expertise throughout our organization and our network to develop clinical protocols and operational standards specific to COVID-19,” Stevenson said.

Oakmont continues to work closely with the Department of Public Health and local medical leadership with diligence, professionalism and compassion to further prepare for COVID-19, protect those who have been impacted and help slow its transmission, according to the company.

Residents at Oakmont of Valencia and Oakmont of Santa Clarita will continue to self-isolate in their apartment homes, and staff members are taking many enhanced precautionary measures, including routine monitoring of all residents and team members for symptoms, increased cleaning throughout the community, and following additional CDC guidelines to mitigate the risk and spread of the virus, according to Stevenson.

“We appreciate your ongoing support during this time, and we will continue to keep you informed as the situation evolves,” he said.
